Sylvia came to be a part of Feral Feline Project back in 2012. It all started with feral cats whom she named after Nobles of England. She was a one woman trapping machine in her Burning Bush neighborhood, trapping over 20 cats all by herself. She called Feral Feline Project for help, and the rest, as they say, was history...
Over the past 12 years Sylvia fostered many kittens, she TNR'd a lot of cats, she was a member of the board and was our Secretary. But most importantly, she was a dear friend. She was an animal advocate that was the calm voice of reason and patience in the eye of the storms that often make their way into animal rescue. She helped people all over the northwest suburbs trap cats, most of whom will never forget working with her. She had a heart of gold and touched many lives, ALL for the better. Even in the worst of her last days she had a "glass is half full" mentality. It was contagious and the world is dimmer now that she's gone.
We miss her, the people she's helped along the way will miss her and the animal rescue world will miss her. She was taken from us too soon. Just a few short weeks ago, she said she was sad because she still had more to do on this earth that she wouldn't be able to do. Her words, "There is always more work to be done" will be our Mantra. We hope to be able to continue our mission with the grace and positivity that Sylvia always demonstrated.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
With love,
