Volunteering

We have traps available, but we need more hands to help community members use them and to transport feral cats to and from our local vets. If you have TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) experience, we would love for you to join us in NW Cook County! And if you're willing to learn, we’d love to have you on board, too.

We primarily work in Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Mt. Prospect, and Palatine, although that’s just where our current volunteers are based. Shelter Veterinary Solutions is our trusted veterinary partner for feral cats. 

Did we mention that we’re a foster-based organization? We rely on generous people who open their homes and hearts to cats, kittens, pregnant cats, sick or injured animals, and even cats needing a second chance after a failed adoption. If any of these sound like a fit for you, we’d love to hear from you—and we’re happy to work with our fosters to accommodate their preferences!

Not sure if fostering is right for you? Give it a try! We can start you out with a small litter of kittens or a single cat to see how it goes. Plus, we provide all the essentials: food, litter, medication, toys, and more!

Sometimes our foster parents go on vacation, and we need temporary help caring for a litter of kittens. This is usually just for a week or two, so if you have the space but prefer a short-term commitment, consider vacation coverage fostering! Plus, with only a short time together, it's a little easier not to get too attached—though we can't promise you won't fall in love! 

Sometimes our cats and kittens have a lot of appointments, and we need a little extra help getting them there. Our foster parents can usually handle it, but we’d be grateful for some extra support when needed! 

Just about every Saturday we can be found at the Mt. Prospect and Schaumburg PetSmart with our adoptable cats and kittens.  We need people who can help set up, answer questions and assist with adoption paperwork.
