We are always looking for more volunteers to help out at our PetSmart and PetCo locations. We need people to help clean cages and socialize the cats/kittens. If you love cats and kittens and are looking to give back to your community, consider playing with cats as your next volunteer activity! We have 4 locations we need help with.
We have traps but we need more people who are able to help community members with using them and transporting feral cats to and from our local vets. If you have TNR experience, we would LOVE to have you join us in NW Cook County. If you do NOT have TNR experience but are willing to learn, we would also LOVE to have you. We primarily center around Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Mt Prospect and Palatine but those limitations are due to where our current volunteers live. The vets we primarily use for our feral cats are the Wheeling Animal Hospital and Arlington Golf Animal Hospital.
Sometimes our cats and kittens have a lot of appointments and we need help getting them there. It isn't often that our foster parents can't do it, but we would be remiss if we didn't ask.
Just about every Saturday we can be found at the Vernon Hills PetSmart and the pop-up location at the Mt. Prospect PetSmart with our adoptable cats and kittens. We need people who can help set up, answer questions and assist with adoption paperwork. We also have locations at PetCo in Arlington Heights and the Crystal Lake PetCo and PetSmart.
Did we forget to mention that we are foster home based? Do you have room in your home and heart to foster cats, kittens, pregnant cats who will soon have kittens, sick and injured cats and kittens and sometimes returns from failed adoptions? If any or all of these appeal to you, let us know. We are happy to work with our fosters to accommodate their preferences. Not sure if this is for you? Try it. We can start you out with a small litter of kittens or one cat to see how it goes. We supply all of the food, litter, medication, toys, etc...
Sometimes our foster parents go on vacation and we need someone to temporarily foster a group of kittens. Usually this is only for a week or two. If you have the space but don't want a long term commitment, consider vacation coverage fostering. (You also don't get so attached when you only have them for a week so you might not end up keeping them all)
